Remote Hopper Locking

Bigbelly stations can be locked remotely via the CLEAN app during high-security events. A signal is sent to any individual (or number of) units requesting that the Hopper lock is engaged remotely, rendering the station unusable.

Stations are checked manually for safety, and once confirmed and remotely locked, they cannot be used by the Public during the time of the security event.

Any tampering with the station during this event (forcing of the hopper or the door, or movement of the unit) will trigger a series of alerts to nominated people in the Municipality or Security Services.

The LED indicator will reflect the current unit breach state:

  • Solid Green + Flashing Red/Yellow – The door has not been opened since entering Secure mode.
  • Solid Red + Flashing Green/Yellow – The door has been opened since entering Secure mode (Breached)

Wi-Fi Hotspot

The Bigbelly smart station can be used as a sealed unit to conceal a Wi-Fi hotspot in the public right-of-way. Powered by solar, there are no plugs or grid power required.

The technology housed inside can provide instant Internet access with up to 20 metres signal radius.

This is ideal for congested cities and Heritage Trails.
